Orthopedic Surgery

After having Orthopedic Surgery, usually the patient will be under the influence of his anesthesia for approximately 5 days after surgery. It will get out of your body if you are on Tylenol but if you are on strong pain pills it will be longer to get out of your body.

Therefore, as soon as you can get into Tylenol. , Because of the anesthesia, body will not as strong and athletic immediately after surgery.  You might be light headed or dizzy from pain medication or the fact that the anesthesia is still in your body.  We advise that you not move around or get up without assistance, even if you think you can, because when you have orthopedic c surgery of any kind, it is better to do less than more.  Follow the directions of your Physical Therapist and doctor.

Don’t look for other methods to get you better faster.  It won’t work and can make it worse for you especially if fall and sustain further injury.  Doing less is better until your Therapist and Surgeon tell you differently.  Must listen to your doctor.
